Eco-trail “Stara Reka”

The Stara Reka Trail is located among secluded wooded vegetation away from the roads between the villages of Stevrek and Bogomolsko. The extremely picturesque route Stevrek – Roman Bridge is about 11 km long and is a great opportunity for a several-hour walk in the unspoilt nature of the Pre-Balkan.

Although locals have named it the Roman Bridge, experts date this historic site to the 16th–17th centuries. The bridge, preserved in very good condition, connects the two banks of the Stara Reka river and was probably built on the foundations of an ancient bridge. It can be reached by a dirt road passing mainly through a deciduous forest. It is about 6.5 km from the village centre.

The area through which the river meanders offers great conditions for forest hiking, fishing, recreation and rest. For lovers of bicycle tourism, a suitable route passes near Sredno Selo. In the immediate vicinity of the Stara Reka eco-trail is the unique natural formation “The Humped Fountain”.
